The different ways we connect (this is so cool)
I want to talk to you about the secret sauce in my Somatic Therapy practice.
It’s called Resonance, and it’s the tool I rely on most in my practice.
Resonance is the magical and invisible bond that forms between my clients and me. It creates a profound connection that goes beyond words.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, where the focus is primarily on verbal communication, in my somatic therapy practice I emphasize the importance of nonverbal cues and bodily sensations.
I’ll sense and feel in my own body and use that as a cue to what my client might be sensing or feeling.
Honestly, that provides me with the strongest guidance as to what needs to happen at every given moment.
It’s not an exact science, but most times I get it right.
Here’s how it works:
As a client is tracking sensations and feelings in her body, I might sense that my hands have suddenly become extremely cold. I’ll ask my client to notice what she’s sensing in her hands, and she’ll tell me they’re cold.
That might be a clue that they’re experiencing fear, and we may explore that.
It might sound like woo woo. But I’m telling you, it’s not.
Mothers who are attuned to their babies can sometimes sense in their bodies what babies are experiencing.
There’s also scientific evidence that our electromagnetic fields can interact with each other when we’re in close proximity. That can lead to entrainment or synchronization.
This synchronization leads to attuning to each other's emotional states, nonverbal cues, and energetic vibrations.
It fosters a deep sense of connection and understanding between us.
And this embodied connection can foster true healing and transformation.
In my sessions, I work collaboratively with you to cultivate resonance in order to foster a sense of safety, trust, and authenticity.
If you're ready to experience the power of resonance and unlock the full potential of your healing journey, I invite you to join me on this transformative path.
