We have everything we need to heal from trauma

I am a fan and a practitioner of therapy. While I mostly offer body-centered therapy (Somatic Therapy), I also have been a client of many forms of therapy.

But I have never gone to a therapist, nor do I approach my clients, with a sense that they were there to heal me. Because I deeply believe we have everything we need to heal ourselves, but sometimes need reflections, guidance, or a map to navigate the territory of trauma.

The body wants to heal itself. It is hard-wired to heal. Every wound is programmed to close, our outer body, including the eyelashes, eyebrows, ear canals, eyes, and nose, are all designed to keep intruders out. The digestive bacteria has an incredible ecosystem to keep our gut balanced. Our sleep is a great agent of healing, as is our immune system. Our fevers, sweat, sneezing, excretion, shedding of cells and skin are all manifestations of our body’s incredible desire to heal.

The mind is no different. We want to release anxiety, depression, tension, and trauma from the body.

And sometimes, we need help to do this.

That help could simply be a friend or a great podcast, but some trauma requires a more in-depth approach, a partner in the act of healing ourselves, someone to hold the frame of our time, space, and attention, to be solid so that we can let go, to offer reflection so that we can better see.

If Somatic Therapy feels like it could be a good fit for you, go ahead and book a 20-minute free consultation with me to make sure you have all your questions answered.
