Everyone wants to be heard. Your body is no different.
If your body could speak, what would it say?
Would it scold you for not taking care of it?
Would it thank you for giving it delicious food and a warm space?
Would it ask for anything in particular?
Can you imagine what that might be?
Give your body some open time to speak to you. It might feel awkward at first, but I guarantee you, your body has a voice and a LOT to tell you, if you make time to listen.
No one will speak freely if they don’t trust that you’ll listen to them. Everyone wants to be heard. Your body is no different.
Make space for your body to be heard.
If your body does tell you something, don’t gaslight it!
If she says “you work too much! You never let me play! I hate it!” Don’t tell her, “well we have to work. I don’t know what you want me to do…”
Instead, echo back her feelings, as you might for a child.
“We have been working too much, I agree! It’s been hard, huh? I can’t quit work, but what would feel really good at a treat for all this work? A bath? A massage? A dance party? Some time with friends? What could we do that you might love, and look forward to? Is there anything I can change about how I work that would make it easier?”
