I go where talk therapy can't take you
I practice what I call Bottom Up Therapy. There are many ways our brains process meaning and memory. I like to start with the most ancient one.
And well, it happens to be on the bottom.
See, our brain process data like this:
Brain stem works with → sensations
Our limbic system → emotions
Neocortex deals in → thoughts
So we feel something, which triggers certain emotions and then we have certain thoughts about it.
In somatic therapy we start with sensations and move towards thoughts through our emotions as opposed to conventional therapy which addresses mostly the thoughts.
Your emotions and feelings are rooted in your body, the sensations of your experience.
The experiences that shaped you are stored in your body (especially trauma), and can only be truly released by your body.
In somatic therapy, I help you connect to your body so it can help heal past events that language alone just can’t reach.
If you’re ready to try something new, ready to go beyond regular talk therapy, I’m here for you, and I can help.
