My surprise body-acceptance discovery

I’ve been on a body image journey for a while and overall I’ve been able to reach a level of acceptance I never dreamed of … but it’s been a long journey for me.

I hired an anti-diet dietitian to release my dieting habits. I even trained in Intuitive Eating to help me understand the science and master this process.

I worked with a body-image coach on reframing limiting beliefs about myself and my body.

I worked with a somatic therapist sensing, feeling and healing my wound around self worth. I spent hours talking to my younger self telling her she is loved no matter what (I still do).

I spent hours in my somatic movement practice developing my interoceptive awareness and learning to know myself from the inside out.

That’s when I truly started appreciating my body for what it does for me rather than how it looks.

However, it wasn’t until I started training in the Somatica method and working with a somatic sex coach on embracing my desire, on expanding my capacity to experience pleasure, and on truly expressing my sexuality that I experienced my quantum leap in my relationship with my body.

It’s not that I don’t have moments of wishing I was thinner, but these moments are few and far between.

I’ve discovered that I didn’t like my body because I was so disconnected from it. I treated it like an object instead of living in it.

I treated my body according to how I thought others saw it.

Working on my sexuality has resulted in me inhabiting my body fully simply by enjoying it.

When you feel so good in your body you can’t think badly about it because you don’t think about it at all. You’re in it!

AND, being connected to your erotic energy is more attractive and sexy than anything you can do TO your body.

It’s a perfect example of how pleasure can be a healing modality and how not all healing has to go through suffering.

If you too are struggling to accept your body and would like to try this radical approach to healing your relationship with your body through embracing your sexual self, I’m here for you.
