The only thing to do when you’re having a "bad body day"?

When we have a challenging day with our body, it's often not really about our bodies, but rather about deeper questions of worth or belonging. Our body is just taking the hit for us. Bad body days can be a reminder for us to do the deeper work of healing from trauma.

It is often easier to feel self loathing about our fat than feel the weight of not having been loved enough as a child. But taking your sadness and trauma out on your body is a no-win activity. What we need to do is pause, consider what is underneath that self-loathing, and sit with those real feelings for a while.

If you need help working through your trauma, feelings of worthlessness, or a sense of not belonging, and feel Somatic Therapy might be right for you, please reach out to me! I’d love to partner with you to discover how you might free yourself from the weight of the past and learn to love yourself as you deserve to be loved!

I offer private and group classes in Somatic Therapy and Mindful/Joyful Movement. Send me an email at odelia@embodiedacceptance.com to find out more!
