How can I participate in joyful movement when I’m not feeling joyful?

Throughout the ages, dance has been an essential part of culture. It is used as celebration (Joyful Movement), prayer, grieving, community connection, intention building, expression, political revolt, and has served basically every function we have in culture.

So, yes. Yes, you can absolutely dance when you are sad, enraged, anxious, fearful, or exhausted. Dance is meant to let who you are at the moment out of it’s containment in the mind.

And, in my experience, there is no better way to shift my mood from negative to positive than to “dance it out.” I get out my anger, my insecurity, and my sadness when I dance.

So, come to Joyful Movement, and allow yourself to have Angry Movement, Lonely Movement, Disheartened Movement, and more, and see what happens to your heart when you give it free reign over your body!
