I’m so disconnected, I can’t feel anything
Feeling numb is a valid concern, and you’re not alone.
We address this concern in Somatic Therapy, but I’d like to point out that not being able to feel something is also a feeling.
You can turn your awareness to how it feels not to feel.
When you do that, you might notice more nuance. You can notice the details of how it feels in your body to not feel.
Maybe it’s a sensation of dullness. Maybe your bodymind will come up with an image to help you work even deeper.
Maybe you’ll notice that this feeling lives everywhere in the body or that it’s more prominent in a specific area of the body.
You could even ask this sensation or image if it has a specific message for you.
All of this is great information you can use to increase your body awareness. But you can definitely start with smaller feelings and then notice that, even if it feels like nothing, that’s still something.
And that means, it’s never a lost cause.
