How can music help me get into my body?

I have a LOT of playlists. Some of them are meant to energize me, some to calm me. Some make me feel sensual and fluid, some cathartic and passionate. Why does music have such a profound effect on us?

We are dynamic beings. We move/think/relate/experience the world with different combinations of energy: fast or slow, strong or light, direct or indirect, free or bound. We all have combinations of these dynamics that feel like home to us, and ones that move us in different ways.

Music can be a quick, easy, natural way to stimulate sensation, and change our mood. Some of our deepest memories are packed inside music, so putting a particular type of music, or even a specific song, can instantly bring us to a time, place, and feeling.
